Personal Lines Underwriting Intern
About The Position
Western National Insurance is seeking a Personal Lines Underwriting Intern to join its Personal Lines Underwriting team as part of the Summer 2027 Internship Program. This role offers a direct opportunity to assist the Underwriting team with a wide range of projects related to the writing of Personal Insurance policies. The internship program is designed for individuals aiming to acquire valuable experience in the insurance industry, providing practical, hands-on opportunities and project work. Interns will also have the chance to enhance their skill sets through professional development activities, cultivate relationships with employees and fellow interns, and participate in community volunteer initiatives.
Requirements
- Completed two years of college preferred
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow established processes and procedures
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Intermediate experience with Word and Excel required
- Ability to work onsite at our corporate office in Edina, MN
- Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Responsibilities
- Helping maintain accurate rating and coverage on Personal Lines policies
- Partnering with underwriting and other departments to modify renewal business as needed
- Assessing replacement cost value for property business
- Reviewing property inspections and recommending appropriate actions
- Update policy information as new details emerge
- Communication with agency force regarding changes or requests for information
Benefits
- The base pay offered for this position will be $20.00/hour.
