Richmond Vona is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal to join their growing litigation team. The Litigation Paralegal serves as a key partner to attorneys throughout all phases of litigation, helping to ensure deadlines are met, clients remain informed, and cases are positioned for successful outcomes. The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing a substantial caseload, balancing competing priorities, and maintaining a high level of attention to detail while delivering exceptional client service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of personal injury litigation paralegal experience.
  • Strong understanding of New York State litigation procedures and court deadlines.
  • Experience independently managing litigation files.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and perform in a deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Paralegal Certificate, Associate's Degree, or Bachelor's Degree.
  • Plaintiff personal injury litigation experience.
  • Trial preparation experience.
  • Experience with electronic court filing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a high-volume personal injury litigation caseload from commencement through resolution.
  • Maintain organized and accurate electronic case files.
  • Monitor court deadlines, scheduling orders, and litigation milestones.
  • Proactively identify and escalate potential case issues.
  • Ensure all case activity is documented accurately within the firm's case management system.
  • Coordinate communication between attorneys, clients, experts, medical providers, insurance carriers, and court personnel.
  • Draft and prepare litigation documents, including: Bills of Particulars, Discovery Demands and Responses, Authorizations, Subpoenas, Motion support documents, Trial preparation materials, Settlement documentation.
  • Coordinate document production and discovery exchanges.
  • Assist attorneys with deposition, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation.
  • Organize exhibits, witness files, medical records, and supporting evidence.
  • Obtain, review, organize, and summarize medical records and billing records.
  • Track client treatment and identify gaps in medical documentation.
  • Coordinate with healthcare providers regarding records and treatment updates.
  • Assist attorneys in evaluating damages and preparing cases for settlement negotiations.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for litigation clients.
  • Provide timely and professional updates regarding case progress.
  • Help clients understand the litigation process and next steps.
  • Maintain a high level of empathy, responsiveness, and professionalism in all client interactions.
  • Build trust and confidence through consistent communication and follow-through.
  • Work closely with attorneys and support staff to ensure cases progress efficiently.
  • Contribute to process improvements and operational efficiencies within the litigation department.
  • Support a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist with special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned.
