About The Position
The Personal Caregiver provides support, assistance with personal hygiene, and help with household functions so an individual can remain in their own home. The role includes personal care, mobility assistance, medication reminders, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean and safe home environment. Depending on client needs, the caregiver may accompany clients to medical appointments, shopping, or other essential errands. Per-diem services may also include live-in or overnight coverage, during which the caregiver is present to secure the home and reassure the client.
Requirements
- Current driver’s license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or access to public transportation.
Nice To Haves
- Current CPR certification or ability to complete certification within 90 days of hire.
- At least 6 months of home care experience.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required to meet identified clients’ needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including bathing, hair care, oral and denture care, nail filing, skin care, dressing, and preparing for bed.
- Transfer clients between beds, chairs, and wheelchairs, and assist with bedpans, commodes, and toilets.
- Position clients in bed as directed and assist with ambulation, including use of a cane, walker, or crutches.
- Provide medication reminders.
- For live-in or overnight assignments, secure the client’s home and provide reassurance by being present during nighttime hours. (The posting notes this service is not provided in Washington and Oregon.)
- Assist with household tasks directly essential to the client’s personal care.
- Accompany clients to medical appointments or shopping and perform other essential errands when necessary.
- Measure and record oral, rectal, and auxiliary temperatures, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure when ordered and within the aide’s training limitations.
- Prepare meals according to the client’s preferred diet and feed the client if required.
- Maintain a clean and safe home environment, including safe use of equipment such as side rails, oxygen, wheelchairs, and Hoyer lifts.
