Personal Care Assistant (PCA) Full-time/with benefits
About The Position
Duties include working one-to-one with a student with one or more of the following needs: autism/emotional/behavioral needs/intellectual disability/medical needs/physical needs/grooming and personal care needs/academic needs/organizational and impulsivity needs, in the classroom, specials, lunch and recess. Assist student with daily activities, both academic and social. If student toileting is required, additional $1.25 per hour will be added to base pay. Employment contingent upon personal care services being required for the student's individualized educational program. Utilization of crisis prevention techniques/strategies (including possible restraint as a last resort) with students who require such in their IEP. Training will be provided via CBSD.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/Transcripts or GED equivalent required at time of hire.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to exercise good judgment.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to effectively communicate with both students and adults.
- Ability to be a positive role model for students.
- Ability to work in a classroom environment for extended periods of time including sitting, standing, bending, reaching, walking, talking, hearing, climbing stairs.
- Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
Responsibilities
- Working one-to-one with a student with specific needs in various school settings.
- Assisting the student with daily academic and social activities.
- Providing grooming and personal care, including toileting if required.
- Utilizing crisis prevention techniques and strategies, including restraint as a last resort, if necessary.
- Collaborating with the student's individualized educational program (IEP).
