About The Position

CCRES is seeking a dedicated Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to join their team, working in partnership with the Downingtown Area School District (DASD). This role involves providing one-to-one and small group support to students with special needs within a school setting. The PCA will work according to the DASD academic calendar year, offering a schedule that aligns with school days. This position is ideal for individuals looking to make a difference in the lives of students, gain experience in special education, or find a schedule that complements family life.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma OR equivalency
  • Complete both PCA and BHT training plans; paid and provided by CCRES
  • PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance
  • PA Criminal (Act 34) Clearance
  • PA Department of Education FBI
  • PA Department of Human Services FBI
  • TB Screening (current within 3 months)
  • Education Documentation - Diploma OR Official Transcripts

  • Experience working with school aged children
  • Experience with autism and / or other special needs

Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored one-on-one and small group support to students with disabilities, helping them participate in classroom activities, manage behavioral interventions, manage personal care, and access to educational environment as it aligns with the student's Individualized Educational Plan (IEP).
  • Implement timely interventions focusing on behavior management, conflict resolution, anger management, and enhancing peer interaction skills, according to the goals outlined in the IEP or positive behavioral support plan set by Special Education team.
  • Gather daily data and maintain progress notes in the designated format for each session with the child or adolescent.
  • Daily progress notes will be entered into STaR and/or Clinic Tracker system based on student's medical billing source.
  • Offer direct assistance to students to fulfill their academic, social, emotional, and/or personal care requirements.
