About The Position

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking a Personal Care Aide to assist a department head with mobility during the workday. This role involves providing hands-on mobility support, setting up and adjusting mobility equipment, retrieving and carrying items, assisting with personal needs, and escorting the department head across campus. The aide may also carry materials to meetings and provide physical support during work-related travel. The position is within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, part of the College of Engineering.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
1-3 years’ experience
Experience providing personal care or mobility assistance (professionally or as a caregiver)
Physically able to assist and provide physical support safely
Reliable and punctual, with dependable transportation
Basic understanding of body mechanics and safe lifting/transfer techniques
Successful background check
Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

Training from an occupational or physical therapist preferred
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on assistance with mobility
Set up and adjust mobility equipment for safe use
Assist with obtaining meals and hydration
Operates standard office equipment and displays computer literacy
Maintains a high level of integrity and discretion
Flexible and adaptable to principal’s changing needs day to day
Displays good communication and customer service skills, delivering a high standard of support and assistance to guests, faculty, staff, and students
Other duties as assigned
