About The Position

Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) is seeking a Personal Banking Advisor to serve as a financial consultant and advocate for new and existing consumer and business members. The role focuses on understanding members’ financial needs, providing guidance on relevant products and services, processing accounts and loans, and building long-term relationships that support members’ financial goals. Advisors deliver personalized, consultative service while contributing to individual and branch sales and service goals. The position requires strong attention to detail, verbal and written communication, critical thinking, and a commitment to service excellence. Advisors also support branch operations, help peers develop product and referral knowledge, and represent LMCU at community and employer-group events. The position is fully on-site in the Gulf Coast region.

Requirements

Three to five years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Michigan Resident Producer Credit Insurance License is required for Michigan-based employees. External candidates without current licensure must pass the licensing examination and provide proof of certification within 90 days of hire.
Ability to become registered through NMLS and obtain county notary certification.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage members and provide personalized financial solutions.
Knowledge of LMCU products and services and ability to accurately process consumer and business accounts and loans.
Ability to meet sales targets and contribute to branch goals in a results-driven environment.
Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills, including the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally.
Adaptability and flexibility in responding to changing branch needs and demands.

Responsibilities

Establish trust and rapport with members and provide personalized, consultative service addressing their financial needs.
Educate members about LMCU products and services and identify appropriate cross-selling opportunities, including loans, credit cards, second mortgages, and other banking services.
Use critical thinking and problem-solving to develop solutions that meet member needs while mitigating risks to LMCU and members.
Build member relationships and provide high-quality service that supports retention and satisfaction.
Resolve conflicts and de-escalate difficult situations professionally and empathetically.
Prioritize and organize work, follow up with members in a timely manner, and ensure accuracy in member dealings.
Follow LMCU policies and regulatory requirements when processing transactions, handling sensitive member data, and maintaining security standards.
Consult with consumer and business members and accurately process new consumer accounts, loans, credit cards, second mortgages, HSA or IRA accounts, and business account products.
Meet individual sales and customer-service targets and contribute to branch goals by promoting products that fit members’ financial needs.
Represent LMCU at sponsored community events and on-site business employer-group sessions.
Refer members to other LMCU departments, including Mortgage, Wealth, Premier, Insurance, Treasury, and Commercial services, as appropriate.
Mentor and coach peers by sharing best practices for referrals, product knowledge, and sales techniques.
Participate in LMCU projects, initiatives, and culture, promoting its core values and service standards.
Adapt to changing branch needs and contribute to problem-solving in a dynamic work environment.
Assist with branch operations as needed, including transaction processing, vault responsibilities, and supervisor duties during Saturday shifts or peak times.
