About The Position

The Personal Banker is cross-trained in all aspects of retail banking to provide a strong customer experience and understand clients’ banking needs. The position supports branch operations, educates clients, and retains and deepens customer relationships by offering relevant products and services. Responsibilities include processing transactions, opening new accounts, and taking and closing loan applications. Wabash, Indiana, is the home branch. The banker will travel to Huntington, Peru, and other regional branches as needed; mileage is compensated. The work is primarily in an office or branch during standard business hours, with occasional travel to other branches or community events. The role involves daily use of banking software, secure digital platforms, and standard office equipment. The position responsibilities are not exhaustive, and other duties or qualifications may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Reliable transportation.
Strong cash-handling abilities.
Knowledge of applicable government regulations, bank products, and branch operations.
Excellent communication and listening skills, commitment to quality customer service, and attention to detail.
Ability to respond professionally to customer questions and problems.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, perform repetitive hand and arm movements, and lift up to 55 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

Educate new and existing customers about the features and benefits of bank products and services.
Proactively refer customers to appropriate personnel.
Expand and retain customer relationships and develop new relationships with prospective customers.
Open consumer and commercial deposit accounts and identify opportunities to address customers’ financial needs with additional products or services.
Conduct financial consultations and take applications for consumer loans, including home equity line of credit applications.
Process customer transactions, including check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, cashier’s checks, cash advances, property taxes, and wire transfers.
Balance the teller cash drawer daily.
Comply with BSA/AML/OFAC regulations and guidelines and report suspicious activity or clients to management or the Security Department.
Process and order checks and related customer products.
Assist with verifying currency shipments, drop-off and night-drop deposits, cash machines, and the branch vault.
Participate in personal development through online learning and internal or external training.
Travel to other regional branches as needed; mileage is compensated.
