About The Position

This role is responsible for providing customer service, handling emergencies and customer complaints, supervising store personnel, and maintaining company policies and procedures. The Person In Charge (PIC) also supervises the sales floor to monitor service and product replenishment, replaces stock in checkout displays, and assists in maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Additional duties include assisting cashiers with technical issues, performing basic office functions, operating the cash register, receiving payments, bagging groceries, and potentially completing close-of-day functions, counting out-of-stock product, and counting tills. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
  • Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
  • Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of all positions within the store.
  • Ability to work independently.

  • Prior experience as a clerk or manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service as defined by company policy.
  • Handle emergencies, customer complaints, and employee or customer accidents.
  • Supervise all store personnel in the absence of the Store Director or Assistant Store Director.
  • Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the sales floor to monitor service and replenishment of products.
  • Replace stock in displays surrounding the checkout area.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist other cashiers with computer, register, and scanner problems.
  • Perform basic office functions to assist customers and personnel.
  • Operate electronically scanning cash register to total customers’ final bill.
  • Receive payment for customer purchases and count back correct change.
  • Bag groceries in paper, canvas, or plastic bags and lift bags into grocery cart.
  • Offer customer assistance with carry out, and perform that task if a Courtesy Clerk is not available.
  • May be responsible for completing close of day function in the office.
  • May be responsible for counting out of stock product.
  • May count tills when other cashier-checkers leave.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
