About The Position

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Permit Specialist to help keep projects moving by coordinating permit requirements, approvals, inspections, and closeout. Position Summary Assisting the existing permitting department and providing support throughout the full lifecycle of electrical and building permits. This role researches applicable authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ’s) and permitting requirements, prepares applications and supporting documentation, submits permit packages, track permitting issuance, coordinates required inspections, and maintains accurate records through final permit closeout.

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate, complete records.
Ability to manage multiple permits and projects simultaneously while following established processes.
Professional written and verbal communication skills for interactions with customers, government officials, and internal teams.
Willingness to learn jurisdiction specific requirements and adapt to changing permitting procedures.
Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to collaborate, support colleagues, and contribute to shared departmental goals.

Nice To Haves

Prior permitting experience in construction or other trades is preferred but not required.
Experience with project-tracking or customer relationship management (CRM) systems is preferred; Salesforce experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Identify and confirm the appropriate authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ’s) using GIS maps, tax assessor websites, and other available resources.
Prepare permit applications, plans, and required supporting documentation for submission to the appropriate AHJ.
Submit permit applications through online portals, email, or other municipal systems in accordance with jurisdictional requirements.
Monitor permit status and review timelines across multiple jurisdictions.
Address revisions or application corrections requested by AHJ plan review departments, coordinating with internal teams to obtain required information.
Resubmit corrected applications and supporting materials promptly to help secure permit approval.
Track permit fees, approvals, and related documentation in internal systems for departmental review.
Coordinate with customers to confirm availability and schedule inspections with the appropriate AHJ.
Communicate inspection correction requirements to the appropriate internal departments, coordinate necessary updates, and schedule re-inspections as needed.
Verify that inspections have passed and permits have been formally closed.
Maintain complete project records by documenting and attaching final inspection reports, certificates of occupancy, and other closeout materials.
