About The Position

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Permitting Specialist to join our dynamic Building Systems team. In this key role, you’ll be an essential part of our full-service project delivery—helping bring spaces to life by navigating the critical path of permitting. You’ll work closely with our talented in-house team of architects, engineers, technicians, and administrative professionals, collaborating on a wide range of exciting projects. This role is perfect for someone who is self-motivated, highly organized, and confident in communicating with clients and team members alike. As a Permitting Specialist, you’ll manage the coordination of multiple projects simultaneously ensuring timelines are met and clients have clear expectations about how permitting may impact their opening dates. Requirements

  • Technical understanding of building permitting processes.
  • Production related project tasks within the following software platforms: Excel, and other Microsoft Office platforms.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good collaborator.
  • Creative thinker.
  • Highly organized.
  • Technical Computer skills – Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Experience working in technical project teams.
  • Experience researching planning and zoning approvals with municipalities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the coordination of multiple projects simultaneously ensuring timelines are met and clients have clear expectations about how permitting may impact their opening dates.
  • Set appropriate client expectations for the permitting process and its impacts on opening dates.
  • Coordinate and outreach to all applicable permitting jurisdictions to research the process and timelines.
  • Record and report permitting research to internal teams and clients.
  • Follow up and monitor the review progress after construction document submission to verify that the project is moving through as expected.
  • Handle State and local building permits, signage permits, State or local health permits, EPA, water service permits and erosion and sediment control permits.
  • Assist project team leaders to align client & technical expectations for each project construction schedule.
  • Organize, record, track and monitor the permitting data.
