About The Position

The Town of Marana is seeking a Permit Technician to work in the Development Services Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in collaborating with a team, assisting the public, and community. This position is critical to the day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will process and distribute submittals for plan review and will track project information. Must be able to work constructively and collaboratively. The Town offers a competitive benefits package.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency plus six months of additional education or training
  • Over one year of customer service experience in a professional office environment or related field
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
  • ICC Permit Technician Certification or must obtain within one year of employment
  • Ability to pass the Town of Marana background check

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the intake and distribution of submittal documents; processes the workflow of applications and supporting materials.
  • Provides customers with information including submittal requirements, fees, process and status.
  • Corresponds and coordinates information with various professional disciplines, homeowners, contractors, Town Staff and outside agencies using various methods.
  • Provide quality customer service through answering phones, responding to emails and in person counter interactions.
  • Processes electronic submittals and approvals; provides guidance to customers on how to utilize the electronic services.
  • Assists with scheduling inspections and providing office support to field inspectors.
  • Responds to public records requests and assists with records retention for the department.
  • Monitors and maintains application data, electronic and paper files.
  • Monitors application status and ensures review deadlines are met.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively in both written and verbal forms.
