ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY The level the successful candidate will be hired at depends on their experience, education, and qualifications. The target hiring range and full pay ranges are: Permit Technician I target hiring range: $26.05 per hour - $30.21 per hour Permit Technician I full pay range: $26.05 per hour - $34.38 per hour Permit Technician II target hiring range: $27.87 per hour - $32.33 per hour Permit Technician II full pay range: $27.87 per hour - $36.79 per hour Permit Technician III target hiring range: $29.83 per hour - $34.60 per hour Permit Technician III full pay range: $29.83 per hour - $39.37 per hour The City of Thornton offers an excellent benefits package, generous time off accruals, and a comprehensive wellness program. Under specified supervision, performs customer service, technical assistance, administrative, and clerical duties in support of a department. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from level I or level II. When filled from the outside, the positions require previous and directly related experience. Permit Technician I: Under immediate supervision, this is the entry-level class in the Permit Technician series. Incumbents entering the class are required to have little directly related work experience. Generally, work is observed and reviewed both during performance and upon completion. Permit Technician II: Under general supervision, this is the intermediate-level class in the Permit Technician series, and is distinguished from level I by the ability to perform the majority of the duties assigned with only general supervision and occasional instruction or assistance. Permit Technician III: Under direction, this is the journey-level class in the Permit Technician series and is distinguished from level II by the ability to perform the full range of duties assigned with only occasional instruction or assistance as needed. Incumbents perform more complex and responsible types of functions, are typically responsible for financial recordkeeping and complex administrative tasks and may be required to manage confidential matters and materials. Incumbents may provide functional supervision or training to interns or other clerical employees.
