About The Position

At Jefferson RISE, instruction doesn’t pause when a teacher is absent. The Permanent Substitute plays a critical role in ensuring continuity of learning by delivering strong, consistent instruction across classrooms. This role goes beyond coverage—it requires a confident instructional presence, effective classroom management, and a commitment to maintaining a positive, productive learning environment. Responsibilities

• Deliver clear, engaging instruction aligned to teacher lesson plans and school expectations
• Maintain a safe, structured, and respectful classroom through strong management practices (e.g., active monitoring, circulation, positive narration)
• Build quick, positive relationships with students across grade levels and subject areas
• Provide in-the-moment feedback to support student learning and behavior
• Ensure continuity of learning by keeping students engaged and on task throughout the class period
• Transition seamlessly across classrooms, subjects, and routines with minimal preparation time
• Navigate unexpected challenges with professionalism and a solutions-oriented mindset
• Uphold consistent expectations and procedures across all assignments
• Take accurate attendance and ensure completion and submission of student work
• Communicate effectively with staff to support smooth classroom transitions
• Reflect on performance and actively seek feedback to strengthen practice
