Perioperative Nurse (N2) - Adult Operating Room
About The Position
Under the direction of the O.R. Manager, Health Services, the incumbent is responsible for: promotion and compliance with the HSC mission, objectives, goals, policies and procedures for perioperative nursing; providing a continuity of care throughout the perioperative period, using scientific and behavioral practices with the eventual goal of meeting the individual needs of the patient undergoing surgical intervention. (Expected practice behaviours include assessment, planning, implementation of perioperative nursing interventions and evaluation.) In addition, the incumbent participates in continuing education activities directed towards personal and professional growth and development; participates in research activities that support and enhance perioperative nursing practice and in departmental Quality Assurance and Improvement activities.
Requirements
- Graduate of an approved Registered Nursing education program required.
- Current related perioperative nursing experience/training required or successful completion of an accredited program in Operating Room Nursing.
- Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
- CPR training at the Health Care Provider level required.
- Requires effective communication skills to facilitate decision-making and problem-solving.
- Ability to apply theoretical knowledge in clinical setting.
- Ability to function in stressful situation.
- Ability and willingness to take initiative and assume responsibility.
Nice To Haves
- CNA Perioperative Nursing Certification preferred.
- Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.

- Pensionable Salary Enhancement - Nurses in eligible classifications may be eligible to earn an additional $5.95/hour when working full-time hours within a prescribed six-month reporting period. (Effective April 1, 2025 – March 31st 2027.)
