About The Position

As a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room, you will provide comprehensive care for surgical patients across the preoperative, intraoperative, and immediate postoperative phases. You will contribute to patient safety and optimal outcomes through direct assessment, intervention, and evaluation, and will direct and coordinate other healthcare team members in patient-centered care. The role requires clinical expertise in perioperative nursing, critical thinking, and the ability to manage complex care in a dynamic environment while coordinating multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program, upon hire.
• Registered Nurse license in Tennessee, upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 14 days.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 6 months.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in a preoperative surgical area or ICU.
• Bachelor of Nursing degree, upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to surgical patients during the preoperative, intraoperative, and immediate postoperative phases.
• Perform direct patient assessment, intervention, and evaluation.
• Direct and coordinate healthcare team members to support safe perioperative care and positive patient outcomes.
• Perform skillfully during extreme, life-threatening emergencies.
• Prioritize, coordinate, and meet multiple patient needs and requests in a timely manner.
• Anticipate and prevent periods of extreme workload through effective time management and organization.
• Detect and document significant changes in a patient’s condition.
• Help patients understand their illness and the effects of lifestyle factors, including diet, activity, smoking, and weight loss.
• Assess and evaluate patients’ readiness to learn, considering factors that affect learning ability and knowledge level.
