The Perinatal Technician performs designated direct and indirect age-specific and developmentally appropriate patient care during labor, delivery, and recovery, under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). This role assists with obstetrical surgical procedures, practices principles of surgical asepsis, and identifies and addresses breaks in the sterile field. The technician anticipates the needs of the surgical team, promotes efficient flow of operative procedures, and is responsible for cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment, maintaining sterilization records. Additionally, the role involves preparing equipment and supplies for procedures, maintaining inventory and restocking, and performing secretarial duties. The Perinatal Technician is expected to meet qualifications and competencies as identified in the unit-specific Plan for Providing Care, utilize interpersonal skills to maximize customer service, and contribute to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Other duties as needed will also be performed.
