About The Position

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager for our Pre-Op/ PACU who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As an Assistant Nurse Manager, you will assure the delivery of quality department/clinical services in accordance with established hospital and regulatory/accreditation agency standards. You will implement daily operations, as defined by the care delivery model, for your unit with just-in-time adjustments to match patient needs with unit resources. You will assist the Manager with the overall operations of their assigned department, including development of department goals and objectives consistent with the AHC’s mission and strategic plan, management of personnel, and preparing/monitoring of and accountability for department budgets. You will collaborate with physicians and other members of the Health Care Team to assure the delivery of optimum age-appropriate patient care. You will promote cohesive work teams by actively supporting intra- and inter-disciplinary teamwork, within the department and organization. You will participate in the development of Evidence based Standards of care for the clinical area of responsibility, ensuring adherence to standards of care defined by professional and regulatory organizations, and knowledgeable of structure standards. You will report significant events such as near misses, adverse events, patient/family complaints, and any situation that affects the safe delivery of patient-centered care in a timely manner, communicating these events and resolutions to the department clinical manager. You will demonstrate positive customer service, foster positive employee relations, and assure that staff adheres to the Customer Service Behavioral Standards. You will promote a positive and professional image and be a role model, coach, mentor, problem solver, and resource for staff and peers. You will execute all other duties as required, including supporting monitoring and improvement of key quality and safety indicators for Pre-Op and PACU, and serving as a liaison between these units and the OR, anesthesia, bed management, and inpatient teams to ensure safe, efficient transitions of care.

Requirements

Degree in nursing (Associate or Baccalaureate)
Current Maryland State nursing license
Certification in department-specific area within the first year of the position
Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Nice To Haves

Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred
Supervisory or Management experience (One year preferred)
Two years' work experience preferred in department-specific area

Responsibilities
