About The Position

The Peri-op Technician provides supportive para-nursing and housekeeping functions in the Operating Room, PACU, and PHA at Parkwest Medical Center. The role supports safe patient transport and positioning, sterile-field awareness, surgical skin preparation, and environmental cleanliness. Parkwest Medical Center is Covenant Health’s flagship facility in West Knoxville and offers advanced cardiac, emergency, critical care, breast health, and surgical services.

Requirements

Entry-level position; no prior experience specified.
No specific education is required. Formal education and/or prior work experience must be sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the essential tasks, typically equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to candidates with a high school diploma or GED.
No licensure required.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate knowledge of the sterile field.
Use proper techniques to transport and position patients safely.
Demonstrate understanding of proper body mechanics.
Demonstrate special positions and/or bed positions, such as Morgan Pelvic and Andrews Frame.
Recognize surgical preparation areas as clean or sterile.
Maintain environmental cleanliness standards in operating rooms and ancillary areas.
Assist the RN with patient skin preparation by safely holding extremities and preventing contamination of the prepared site.
Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Complete required annual education assignments.
Work toward goals and objectives and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
