About The Position

Under direction, promote and develop successful learning for students in all PreK-8 Theatre (Drama) Performing Arts classes. Plan, develop, organize, and assist in the operation of a comprehensive Performing Arts educational program for students. Perform instructional and related duties as they pertain to the state standards in Theatre and Performing Arts education. Perform other related functions as required. Design, plan, and execute; in collaboration with Performing Arts Department Teachers, school-wide performances throughout the school year. Perform a variety of complex and responsible duties in providing information and assistance to students, staff, parents, and the public by using RHLS systems and processes. Initiate, create, and maintain printed and electronic communication systems to support all RHLS activities (including social media).

Possession of a Baccalaureate or higher degree with emphasis in elementary Performing Arts education, a subject matter field commonly taught in the elementary grades, or closely related field areas.
Possession of a California credential authorizing service as a teacher of elementary grade pupils.
Successful completion of student teaching at a recognized college or university or two years of regular full-time elementary classroom teaching experience.

Oversee activities related to performing arts group performances and trips
Plan concert programs, including facilities requests
Assure that trips are planned and chaperoned in accordance with school policies
Teach Theatre/Drama/Performing Arts to: Partner with Classroom Music and Instrumental Music teachers as needed.
Pre-K and TK - Assist the Preschool Director and Staff as requested in researching and preparing programs. Act as a resource and reference, not lead or direct programs.
Kindergarten – Fourth Grades - 40 minutes each class once a week
Fifth Grade - 50 minutes each class once a week
Middle School (6th – 8th Grade) – 70 min. Elective Drama course
Chapel - Once a Week, Every Wednesday 8:00-9:30am Under supervision, assist classroom teachers in design and delivery of individual class chapel presentations and rehearsals.
Spirit Squad / Dance & Cheer Team (1st - 3rd) - Once a week: Extra-Curricular After School Enrichment, 3:15-4:15 pm
Spirit Squad / Captain Leadership Dance & Cheer Team (4th – 5th) - Once a week: Extra-Curricular After School Enrichment, 3:15-4:15 pm
Musical Theatre or other specialized class - Once a week: Extra-Curricular After School Enrichment, 3:15-4:15 pm
Coordinate special facility request needs for programs.
Christmas Concerts – Design and Direct K-2 Concert with Christmas carols
3-5 Concert with Christmas Carols
Middle School Concert/Performance in the evening.
Grandparents Day/VIP Day Design and Director Student presentations at this annual school-wide event.
Friday Morning K-5 Performances.
Assist as needed with Spring Choral Festival Field Trip with 5th Grade at Concordia University Irvine. Usually in February or March
Spring Sing Performances – Design and Direct in coordination with Choral and Instrumental Music Teachers
K-2 Concert - work with other Performing Arts Teachers to do a musical.
3-5 Concert - work with other Performing Arts Teachers to do a musical.
Middle School Spring Showcase in the evening – work with Orchestra, Drama, Praise Band, Concert Band, and Singspiration at this performance.
Assist in coordination with annual Pacific Symphony Class Act program.
Provide leadership and assistance for classroom teachers throughout the school year.
Coordinate and facilitate performance opportunities for Arts-based enrichment classes. Such as, but not limited to: Dance Teams, pBone, Musical Theatre, Spirit Squads, and Class Act events.
Other festivals or clinics as you, the Theatre / Preforming Art teacher, see fit.
Develop, coordinate, and disseminate (Instrumental Music, Choral Music, Drama, Class Act, Chapels, etc.).
Provide via social media school accounts.
Provide quarterly article to The Vine magazine.
Provide monthly to the School Newsletter.
Provide assistance and work with school office on all communications (posters, flyers, website, app, etc.)
