About The Position

The Performance Improvement Quality Assurance Registered Nurse is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the developmental, implementation, and evaluation of individualized interventions designed to address the priority needs of clients on their caseload. This role involves developing and implementing the Quality Improvement (QI) Program, conducting monthly reviews of issues lists to identify patterns, and educating facility staff on the QI Program's methods, purposes, and philosophy. The position also includes chairing the Infection Control and Safety Committees, conducting compliance rounds, monitoring the QI Plan, assisting committee members in formulating action plans, and operating within ICF/MR Guidelines and applicable state and federal laws.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a registered nurse program.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year experience as a Coordinator in a long term care facility
  • Registered Nurse
  • Current certification as a Coordinator

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements the Q.I. Program after approval by the Administrator.
  • Prepares the Issues Summary Log by reviewing contributing committee reports, Q.A. indicators and trend reports, and consultant reports for Administrator approval.
  • Conducts monthly review of all Issues Lists to determine patterns and submits findings to Administrator for approval before placing on the Issues Summary Log.
  • Submits a monthly plan to Administrator on instructing facility staff on methods, purposes, and philosophy of the Q.I. Program.
  • Inservices committee members and other facility staff on the importance of the Q.I. Program.
  • Develops calendars for the Q.I. assessment and submits to Administrator for approval.
  • Maintains Q.I. books and records on “Go For The Gold”.
  • Audits departmental Q.I. Manuals and prepares a report for department heads and Administrator.
  • Chairs Infection Control Committee and keeps minutes.
  • Chairs Safety Committee and keeps minutes.
  • Completes compliance rounds once a week with Clinical Charge Nurses, Dietary, Resident Living Supervisor, and Housekeeping.
  • Tracks compliance problems spotted on rounds and informs Administrator of problems.
  • Monitors Parkwood Developmental Center’s Q.I. Plan and advises Administrator weekly.
  • Sets up agenda for quarterly Q.I. meeting and keeps minutes.
  • Assists committee members in formulating action plans.
  • Operates within ICF/MR Guidelines and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by supervisors.
