Performance & Health Coach

PrimaryMDNew York, NY
$100,000 - $135,000Hybrid

About The Position

PrimaryMD is a tech-enabled, precision concierge primary care company redefining primary care and longevity. We combine deeply human relationships with the science of Medicine 3.0 — building a model where members get an expert team that knows them, their data, and their goals. We are live in San Francisco and at our Hudson Yards location in New York City. Our Soho flagship is coming soon. The Role Our Performance & Health Coach is the implementer-in-chief for every member’s health. The physician owns the medical plan; you own the execution — turning lab results, DEXA, VO2 max, and Vald data into specific exercise, nutrition, sleep, and behavioral interventions that actually move the needle. You are the face members see most often, the person they text on Sunday night, and the reason they show up for the next session. You make the science feel personal. You build the habit loop. You are sticky — not because the protocol says so, but because people genuinely want time with you. This is a foundational hire. You’ll carry a focused member panel with a weekly to bi-weekly cadence, run our in-house performance assessments, contribute to member-facing content, and help shape the playbook that defines coaching at PrimaryMD as we grow.

Requirements

  • Exercise physiology / strength credential — CSCS, ACSM-EP, NASM, or equivalent, current and active.
  • Health coaching credential — NBC-HWC, ACE Health Coach, Precision Nutrition, IIN, or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Nutrition, or a closely related field.
  • 3+ years coaching adult clients 1:1 with documented behavior change and performance outcomes.
  • Hands-on competence administering and interpreting VO2 max, InBody, and Vald (force plates / ForceDecks / ForceFrame), or demonstrated ability to be trained to proficiency within 30 days of start.
  • Working fluency in Medicine 3.0 — Attia, Huberman, Lyon, longevity literature — with the ability to translate it into plain English for members.
  • Lives in or relocating to NYC; able to work in person at Hudson Yards every business day.
  • Daily comfort with EHR / CRM, CGMs, wearables, and digital programming tools — this is not a paper-and-clipboard role.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Nutrition, or Behavioral Science.
  • Nutrition credential — CNS, RD, or Precision Nutrition Level 2+.
  • Prior experience inside a premium concierge or longevity practice (Eternal, Early Medical, Wild Health, Equinox Tier X, Forward, Parsley, and similar).
  • Background as a former collegiate or professional athlete, or a personal track record of high-performance training.
  • Experience with female-specific programming (menstrual cycle, peri/post-menopausal, pre/post-natal).
  • Experience with GLP-1 muscle retention strategies.
  • A public-facing platform — published writing, podcast appearances, talks, or social content on health and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Carry a focused panel with weekly to bi-weekly 1:1 sessions — in person at HY for NYC members, virtual for SF members.
  • Own the mandatory onboarding sequence for every new member. Schedule it, deliver it, and follow up until they’re in the rhythm.
  • Drive proactive outreach and accountability. Reach out before they cancel. Never let a no-show go un-followed-up.
  • Co-create personalized programs across exercise, nutrition, sleep, and recovery — fully aligned with the physician’s medical plan.
  • Personally administer and interpret VO2 max, InBody, and Vald assessments. Deliver clear, motivating debriefs that turn numbers into action.
  • Synthesize wearable, CGM, lab, and assessment data into a single coherent story for each member.
  • Run bi-annual reassessments and track progress against each member’s personalized health goals.
  • Work shoulder-to-shoulder with our physicians and care coordinators across NYC and SF to ensure every plan is integrated, current, and executed.
  • Translate physician orders into concrete weekly behavior — sets, reps, meals, sleep windows, stress practices.
  • Surface clinical concerns back to the physician fast and clearly.
  • Contribute to member-facing content with the marketing team — newsletter, social, member events. Be a face of the PMD voice on performance and longevity.
  • Use our platforms and tools daily; surface improvements, gaps, and ideas constantly.
  • Help build the PrimaryMD coaching playbook — SOPs, assessment protocols, onboarding cadence, member journey — so the function scales beyond one coach.
