About The Position

The Department of Transportation (ADOT) is seeking a Performance Auditor 4 to join their Office of Audit and Analysis. This role involves performing compliance, operational, information technology, and other types of audits and consulting activities in accordance with the annual audit plan. Depending on experience and qualifications, the position can be at the Performance Auditor 4, Senior Performance Auditor 4, or Principal Auditor 4 level. The position may offer the ability to work remotely within Arizona, based on business needs and performance. Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or closely related field plus two (2) years’ experience as an Auditor or equivalent.
• Possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license.
• Complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks.
• Maintain acceptable driving records.
• General business experience in the subject area of the audit function (Performance Auditor 4).
• Minimum of 1 year of related experience (Performance Auditor 4).
• Minimum of two years' experience and able to demonstrate the ability to accurately, efficiently, independently, and professionally perform all of the tasks required of the "Performance Auditor 3" role (Senior Performance Auditor 4).
• Demonstration of proficiency in the entire audit planning tasks (Senior Performance Auditor 4).
• Minimum of three years' experience and able to demonstrate the ability to accurately, efficiently, independently, and professionally perform all of the tasks required of the "Performance Auditor 4" role (Principal Auditor 4).
• Knowledge of auditing accounting and auditing methods and systems.
• Knowledge of general auditing standards and procedures.
• Knowledge of computer technology principles, terminology, and programming.
• Knowledge of Federal regulations, Arizona Revised Statutes, applicable agency manuals, and policies and procedures.
• Ability to accurately analyze and interpret data.
• Ability to communicate effectively and train others.
• Ability to compose clear and concise audit reports.
• Ability to accurately complete and assemble audit working papers.

Responsibilities

• Prepares audit work papers to include sufficient, relevant, and competent evidence to provide a basis for conclusions reached by interpreting and evaluating data to determine if the information provided is accurate, reliable and complete.
• Evaluates activities and internal controls to determine whether controls are designed to be effective and are implemented as designed.
• Reviews and defines audit steps by deciding what work needs to be performed based on risk factors and adjusting the work plans to better meet audit objectives.
• Gathers, reviews, and interprets applicable information and data to determine if work was adequately performed to make an accurate conclusion.
• Contacts appropriate persons to specify schedules, procedures, documentation and other requirements and may coordinate and conduct unannounced audits as necessary to prevent destruction of records and other information.
• Interviews agency personnel (depending on who is being audited).
• Develops, performs, and reports on new, high-risk, and/or complex audit and consulting engagements.
• Mentors new auditors and performs audit quality control reviews (Principal Auditor level).
• May perform in a lead capacity (Principal Auditor level).
• Plans audit work under direct supervision (Performance Auditor 4 level).
• Performs more complex audits under the guidance of the Performance Audit Supervisor (Performance Auditor 4 level).
• Plans an audit in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (Senior Performance Auditor 4 level).
• Performs risk assessments, internal control assessments and scoping of audit work (Senior Performance Auditor 4 level).
