About The Position
LearnWell is seeking a passionate, flexible, and dependable Per Diem Substitute Teacher to provide coverage at its educational programs in New Jersey. The role serves adolescent school-age patients receiving treatment in fast-paced inpatient behavioral health facilities, supporting their education in a small classroom setting. Class sizes are typically 12 to 15 students. This is an as-needed position with no guaranteed weekly hours. Coverage may be scheduled in advance or requested at short notice, including same-day coverage. Shift availability varies according to program needs. Work locations and hours include Hoboken, Newark, and Jersey City from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and Paramus from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Requirements
- B.A. or B.S. degree from an accredited institution.
- New Jersey State Standard teaching license; CE and CEAS licenses do not meet the requirements.
- Comfort working with K–12 students.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Understanding of subject matter relevant to student needs.
- Reliable transportation.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver daily lesson plans.
- Provide individualized assistance to students.
- Communicate about student progress as needed.
- Monitor and adjust teaching strategies to support student success.
- Maintain accurate attendance and session reports.
