People Operations Specialist

Banyan CommunicationsAtlanta, GA
$90,000Hybrid

About The Position

We are looking for a People Operations Specialist to own the day-to-day People function — from HRIS administration and compliance to employee experience and office operations. This is a hands-on, generalist role for someone who enjoys building efficient processes as much as being a trusted advisor for employees and leaders alike. We’re looking for someone who can help Banyan scale thoughtfully while staying compliant and employee centered. Please note: Banyan does not use AI to screen resumes. All applications are reviewed by a genuinely amazing human.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in HR/People Operations.
  • Hands-on experience with an HRIS platform (Rippling experience a strong plus).
  • Solid working knowledge of federal and state employment law, compliance, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience supporting benefits administration and payroll coordination.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion when handling confidential employee information.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable acting as a trusted advisor to employees at all levels.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. This position requires participation in E-Verify.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in government contracting (GovCon) environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end employee lifecycle, from onboarding to final day.
  • Run full-cycle recruiting for open roles, from intake and sourcing through interview coordination, offer, and acceptance. Support hiring managers in building job descriptions, structured interview plans, and consistent, compliant candidate evaluation.
  • Maintain our HRIS (Rippling) and other People Operations systems, keeping employee data accurate, confidential, and secure.
  • Continuously improve People Operations processes so they scale as the company grows.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees, supervisors, and leadership on People Operations policies, benefits, and related questions.
  • Stay ahead of federal, state, and multi-state compliance requirements, using the HRIS and other tools to flag risks and recommend solutions that keep Banyan aligned with applicable employment laws.
  • Coordinate with outside partners (e.g., employment tax specialists, counsel) to meet federal and state reporting requirements.
  • Track changes in employment law and recommend where policy needs to evolve.
  • Ensure pay is accurate and employee questions are resolved promptly.
  • Evaluate our benefits offerings and recommend improvements over time.
  • Lead internal communications for annual benefits enrollment.
  • Lead organization-wide initiatives such as internship programs, employee events, and recognition programs.
  • Manage the office and shape a strong in-person experience for local staff, from day-to-day logistics and recommending improvements, to vendor coordination and troubleshooting staff issues. Requires regular in-office presence (2-3 days per week).

Benefits

  • Flexible Time Off that covers real life, not just vacation. FTO is uncapped and non-accrual, and it explicitly includes mental health and wellness days, caregiving, doctor's appointments, menstrual needs, and more. If you need the day, you don't have to make it fit a category.
  • Mental health support from day one. Every employee has access to Spring Health, including six free therapy sessions and a personal care navigator, whether or not you've enrolled in our other benefits.
  • Support built for the hardest moments. Beyond FTO, our Compassion Leave policy provides paid time for situations like pregnancy loss, family emergencies, or the loss of an immediate family member.
  • Twelve weeks, fully paid, for new parents. Benefits continue throughout your leave.
  • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance, eligibility begins on your first day of employment.
  • Optional Flexible spending account (FSA) plan.
  • Employee Assistance Program (Guardian): counseling, coaching, and legal and financial resources.
  • Company-paid cell phone plan.
  • 11 paid holidays, plus Focus Fridays for uninterrupted work.
  • Free breakfast and snacks in the office.
  • Professional development support, including LinkedIn Learning access, and an unpaid sabbatical option after five years of service.
  • A culture that includes happy hours, team lunches, holiday parties, and, most of all, flexibility and trust.
