About The Position

Percepta is seeking its Founding People Operations Partner to help build the company from the inside out. This role will work in tandem with the Head of People, influencing strategy and driving the execution of plans. The primary focus is on building the systems and processes necessary for Percepta to effectively manage its people operations, including onboarding, payroll, and support for an expanding team. The role involves designing and building new processes while also managing their day-to-day execution.

Requirements

  • At least 5-7+ years in People Operations or HR Operations in a high-growth environment.
  • Previous experience procuring, implementing, and maintaining an HRIS or adjacent People systems.
  • Working knowledge and experience in the administration of US employment practices, payroll and benefits, and broader compliance obligations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Strong data instincts, comfort with spreadsheets, confidence in building clean reports, and an allergy to inconsistent records.
  • Clear communicator with employees at every level, paired with sound judgment about confidentiality.
  • A genuine bias toward automation, always looking for repeatable patterns and removing manual work.
  • Real comfort with ambiguity and unbuilt process.
  • Excited about building and contributing to our in-office culture in NYC.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) or transitioning from using a PEO to bringing operations in-house.
  • Experience using or excitement to learn more about AI tooling and lightweight automation.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain integrations between People, Finance, Legal, and IT to ensure accurate and consistent employee data.
  • Own the administration and data integrity of the HRIS and connected People systems, including configuration, permissions, fields, workflows, and reporting.
  • Design, document, and run core People workflows such as onboarding, visa transfers, role and compensation changes, performance management, leaves, and offboarding.
  • Serve as the primary contact for system issues, vendor support, and access requests.
  • Manage all tactical aspects of onboarding, including background checks, immigration support, I-9 verification, work authorization, equipment, and access provisioning.
  • Administer payroll and benefits through the company's Professional Employer Organization (PEO).
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure a clean audit trail for all changes.
  • Manage the offboarding process with care and attention.
  • Ensure compliance as the company hires in new states and jurisdictions, focusing on postings, notices, filings, and policy updates.
  • Identify potential risks such as data gaps, missed deadlines, or process breakdowns.
  • Develop reporting systems to provide leadership with insights into headcount, hiring, and areas needing attention within the people function.
  • Act as the operational partner to the Head of People.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for employee inquiries regarding policy, benefits, systems, and processes, escalating complex issues and resolving others directly.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure tasks are completed.
  • Maintain the People Ops knowledge base and internal documentation, ensuring it is current, clear, and useful.
