About The Position

Founders Pledge is seeking a People Operations Partner based in New York to manage end-to-end people operations, including payroll, benefits, systems, data, and compliance for approximately 85 employees across the US, UK, and Germany. This is a hands-on role reporting to the UK-based People Director, joining a small, dedicated People team. The role offers significant scope from the outset, focusing on ensuring employees are paid correctly, properly covered, and well looked after.

  • Hands-on US people operations experience, including running payroll, benefits, and 401(k) administration, ideally across several states and through a PEO like Justworks.
  • Working knowledge of US employment compliance, with multi-state requirements.
  • Experience in a start-up or small organization, comfortable with changing priorities, varied workloads, and building/improving processes.
  • Sharp eye for detail with systems in place to catch mistakes.
  • Good judgment and communication skills, handling sensitive matters calmly, discreetly, and fairly.
  • Systems confidence with HR systems, data, and spreadsheets, demonstrating how past work has made people processes more effective.
  • Ownership mentality, working independently, following through on tasks, and knowing when to escalate.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting employees outside the US, especially in the UK.
  • Experience in a mission-driven, non-profit organization or in the effective giving ecosystem.
  • New York and California experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own US, UK and German payroll and benefits, including multi-state payroll through Justworks, benefits renewals, year-end filing, compliance, and 401(k) administration in the US. Manage benefits providers and ensure smooth, accurate payroll in the UK and Germany.
  • Maintain compliance with global employment requirements, manage international employee handbooks, and ensure contracts and employment paperwork are correct.
  • Serve as the primary contact for day-to-day HR inquiries, manage onboarding and offboarding processes, and handle US employee relations cases.
  • Maintain the HRIS (Personio), generate data for organizational health metrics, and assist in selecting and shaping future systems.
  • Coordinate global people operations, manage the people calendar and processes, and collaborate with the European People Ops Partner.
  • Partner with Finance to support annual audits and manage People team supplier invoices and payments.
  • Perform light-touch workplace management for WeWork offices in NY and SF, including setting up office access and ensuring effective weekly office collaboration days.
