About The Position

Office Hours is seeking a People Operations Lead to manage HR operations, focusing on programs and infrastructure that enhance the employee experience. This role encompasses benefits, leave, HRIS management, compliance, onboarding/offboarding, performance cycles, people policies, and culture/engagement. The Lead will be the primary HR contact for employees, ensuring clear, prompt, and reliable support. As the company expands, this role will evolve, offering the opportunity to significantly shape the future of the people function. This position is part of the Operations team and reports to the Chief of Staff & Head of Operations.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of progressive HR or people operations experience, with at least 3 years in a HR generalist role, demonstrating ownership of a broad range of people responsibilities and the ability to scale processes.
  • HRIS system administration experience, including implementation/migration, workflow configuration, performance cycle setup, integrations, audit, and reporting. Experience with Rippling is strongly preferred.
  • Direct administration of employee benefits, including annual renewals, open enrollment, carrier and broker management, 401(k) administration, and leave coordination.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state employment regulations for multi-state employers (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, ACA, I-9/E-Verify, EEO reporting, state-specific leave/notice requirements).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex policies into easily understandable language.
  • Comfort operating autonomously, creating processes where none exist, and systematizing or automating manual tasks.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in employee records and processes.
  • Service orientation and responsiveness, with a proactive approach to supporting employees.

Responsibilities

  • Own HRIS (Rippling) as system administrator, including configuration, integrations, and data integrity. Maintain employee records and generate reports on headcount, attrition, and other people metrics.
  • Manage employee benefits programs end-to-end, including evaluation, renewals, open enrollment, new hire enrollment, life event changes, and terminations. Oversee the benefits broker, vendors, and 401k administrator. Coordinate leaves of absence from request to return, acting as the main point of contact for employee questions and reporting on utilization and spend.
  • Ensure compliance in all states of employment, managing registrations, I-9s, EEO and state filings, ACA reporting, workers compensation, and unemployment claims. Maintain a compliance calendar to meet all deadlines.
  • Manage performance review and promotion cycles, including timeline, system setup, communications, and calibration materials, supporting managers throughout the process.
  • Partner with the Head of Operations to design and execute onboarding and off-boarding programs, guiding new hires from offer acceptance and managing end-to-end off-boarding processes.
  • Maintain the employee handbook and people policies, partnering on policy development and updates. Own the documentation, rollout, and communication of policies, and address employee questions.
  • Contribute to the company culture and employee experience by proposing and implementing programs, rituals, and communications that foster team connection and recognition, and by gathering employee feedback.
