About The Position

Woodcraft Rangers, a non-profit organization founded in 1922, is dedicated to guiding young people toward purposeful lives through holistic development. They offer TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, enrichment, summer learning, early learning, environmental and social justice programs, college access, and inclusion services for youth with disabilities. Woodcraft Rangers serves over 30,000 youth annually across Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience in employee engagement, onboarding, talent development, or HR.
  • Familiarity with onboarding best practices and experience working in cross-functional or program-based environments.
  • Proficient with HRIS systems (ADP preferred), and survey tools (e.g., SurveyMonkey, CultureAmp, etc.).
  • Experience using project management and collaboration tools such as Notion, Teambridge, and Claude. Familiarity with additional platforms a plus.
  • Experience in nonprofit, youth-serving, or educational organizations preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a main point of contact for new hires during their first 90 days, ensuring a smooth transition and integration into their teams.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to create and maintain individualized 30-60-90-day onboarding and acclimation plans.
  • Track and schedule all milestone check-ins and ensure documentation is completed in partnership with managers.
  • Lead follow-up efforts post-onboarding, including scheduling surveys, gathering feedback, and identifying trends across departments.
  • Support culture initiatives and recognition efforts including new hire highlights, team appreciation, and staff spotlight programs.
  • Maintain updated onboarding plans and tools; recommend improvements based on feedback and analytics.
  • Conduct monthly audits of employee experience data to identify potential retention risks or engagement gaps.
  • Provide support and guidance to employees navigating their first-year journey, including performance conversations and career development inquiries.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to align onboarding experiences with long-term employee engagement goals and DEI principles.
  • Participate in employee engagement surveys, focus groups, and other data collection efforts that support culture building and improvement.
  • Coordinate and support employee feedback loops, stay interviews, and exit trends in collaboration with HR leadership.
  • Partner with the People Experience Manager to strategize improvements and drive initiatives that support belonging, equity, and performance culture.
  • Oversee and facilitate all new hire orientation and onboarding training sessions in partnership with hiring managers and the Learning & Development department, ensuring consistency, relevance, and mission alignment.
