About The Position

This role is for a People & Culture Supervisor covering maternity leave for a 12-month contract at Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. The position focuses on creating exceptional experiences for internal guests by understanding their motivations and preferences, fostering an emotional connection to the brand. The supervisor will lead themselves through positive orientation, self-development, self-management, and problem-solving. They will lead others by example, engaging teams, developing others, and communicating effectively. They will also lead the business by being guest-focused, aware of business needs, and identifying areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Education in either a Hospitality Program or HR Management program.
  • Computer literate with advanced skills in Word and Excel, Canva.
  • Knowledge of HRIS is an asset.
  • Previous experience in managing Group Benefits for employees.
  • Previous experience in administering WCB claims.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy in an environment of confidentiality with the right balance of common sense, compassion, and business acumen.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.
  • Must already be legally permitted to work in Canada.

  • Participation in previous work committees would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Create the essential experience for internal guests and deliver exceptional service as a first point of contact.
  • Master Dayforce (HRIS and Payroll system) and provide guidance on its use.
  • Coordinate administrative office tasks including mail, email, voicemail, employee files, compliance requirements, and office inventory.
  • Manage the People & Culture department's role in the bi-weekly payroll process, including updating employee records, approval processes, and reviewing forms.
  • Assist with tracking and processing employee scheduled increases.
  • Elevate and maintain internal communication modes (internal TVs, boards, social media pages).
  • Lead or co-lead the planning and execution of internal events.
  • Administer work-related accidents, WCB claims, and Short-Term Absences.
  • Work closely with managers regarding the status of postings, applicants, interviews, and offers.
  • Engage in hotel-wide initiatives and committees (Recognition, Diversity, Inclusion and Equity, Sustainability, Health and Safety, Wellness).
  • Rotate through and assist in each HR function (recruitment, onboarding, orientation, benefits, training).
  • Seek and manage employee discount programs.
  • Manage projects and other duties as required by the Director, People & Culture.
