About The Position

The New York City Police Pension Fund (NYCPPF or the “Fund”) is dedicated to providing superior service to its 33,000 active members and 53,000 retired members of the New York City Police Department. The Pension Loans unit is responsible for processing all loan applications and adjustments. Under the direction of the Director and Deputy Director of Pension Loans, this candidate will be responsible for performing the duties and responsibilities described below, but not limited to, the following:

Requirements

  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and one year of satisfactory clerical experience.
  • Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.
  • Candidates must be permanent or reachable on a viable civil service list in the Clerical Associate title to be considered for this position unless you are applying through the 55-a program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide members with Comprehensive Officer Pension System (COPS) generated loan statements detailing available loan amounts and repayment schedules;
  • Process loan payments and arrears payments, when applicable, utilizing the appropriate computer databases and systems;
  • Calculate and verify outstanding loan balances and related loan information;
  • Enter and maintain daily pension and deferred compensation loan applications in the appropriate database;
  • Respond promptly, accurately, and courteously to written and telephone inquiries, referring matters to the appropriate parties and following up as necessary;
  • Respond to in-person inquiries in a professional, accurate, and courteous manner, providing appropriate assistance or referring members to the relevant agency personnel with all pertinent information;
  • Maintain accurate and timely records related to loan applications, payments, adjustments, and member inquiries;
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by the Unit Supervisors.
