About The Position

The purpose of the Pellet Operator is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of a pellet production line. This involves setting up, monitoring, and maintaining machinery, as well as ensuring quality control and troubleshooting any issues that arise.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate)
  • 1-2 years manufacturing experience.
  • 1-2 years sit-down forklift experience.
  • Proficiency in English required

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-Lingual – Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain flake hopper levels, reading them hourly, and performing preventative maintenance (PM).
  • Replace melt filter screens.
  • Manage purge materials.
  • Adhere to Starlinger procedures.
  • Ensure spills, filters, heat exchangers, and equipment are cleaned and emptied.
  • Complete shift reports.
  • Sample materials.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams.
  • Maintain levels in flake feeding hoppers by loading flake bags into hoppers.
  • Perform hourly readings.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly PMs when assigned.
  • Complete Melt Filter screen changes when necessary.
  • Remove Melt Filter purge, break purge, bag purge pieces and strap bag.
  • Sign off on all Starlinger procedures, and be able to carry out all tasks without assistance.
  • Sign off on all EREMA procedures, and be able to carry out all tasks without assistance.
  • Fill in for EREMA operators when shorthanded.
  • Clean all pellet, oil, toner, water, and flake spills.
  • Change all filters when necessary.
  • Clean all heat exchangers in the Starlinger department.
  • Clean top, bottom, and inside all equipment, including HAD, PDU, Dryer Centrifuge, PCU, SSP Reactor, and ERKs.
  • Empty HAD, PDU, PCU, and Reactor using a shovel when necessary.
  • Empty pellet from water basin.
  • Sample Classifier, PCU, and SSP when necessary or advised.
  • Complete end of shift report.
  • Work with maintenance to troubleshoot and test equipment.
  • Open and close HAD, PDU, PCU, and SSP manholes when necessary.
  • General housekeeping of all work areas.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
