About The Position
The Peer Tutor provides academic assistance to fellow students and serves as a resource to help Alamo Colleges District (ACD) students access services that support student success. The position focuses on English, writing, and speech. It is part-time and temporary, with 19 hours per week, and is not eligible for benefits. Tutors must be available during the Integrated Tutoring Center’s operating hours: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Applicants must submit copies of college transcripts under the Other Documents section; unofficial copies are acceptable when applying. Requirements
- Have an overall GPA of at least 2.75.
- Have taken the course to be tutored, or a higher-level course, and earned a grade of B or better.
- Be enrolled in one of the ACD colleges or another accredited institution of higher education.
- Submit copies of college transcripts with the application; unofficial copies are acceptable.
Nice To Haves
- Experience as a tutor.
- Successful completion of 15 semester credit hours.
- Demonstrated success supporting students in writing, reading comprehension, public speaking, and/or interpersonal communication through tutoring, teaching, coaching, or similar roles.
- Ability to provide constructive, strengths-based feedback across disciplines.
- Familiarity with academic writing conventions and presentation strategies.
