About The Position

Genesee Community College (GCC), founded in 1966 as part of the State University of New York (SUNY), is a student-centered collegiate community serving a 2500 square mile region across four counties in Western New York State. This position is within the Learning Center, which seeks students to provide academic support.

Requirements

• Must be a current student of GCC.
• Must have earned a final grade of A or B in courses for which they provide academic support.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality.
• Basic computer and data entry skills.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Comfortable working one-on-one, in groups, and in classroom settings.
• Respect for the diversity of the GCC community.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one, group, and embedded peer tutoring and academic support for courses in which they earned a final grade of A or B.
• Provide individual and small-group tutoring.
• Participate in embedded courses.
• Communicate effectively with students, staff, and instructors.
• Provide tutoring in assigned spaces and modalities.
• Accurately record tutoring sessions in compliance with FERPA.
• Follow Learning Center and GCC procedures.
• Attend required trainings, meetings, and evaluations.
