About The Position

The Certified Peer Support Specialist provides coaching, mentoring, and consultation in a Tier IV Behavioral Health Urgent Care (BHUC) serving adults aged 18 and older with mental health or substance abuse disabilities. The role promotes recovery, self-advocacy, and community integration while supporting the therapeutic milieu. The position supports the mission and vision of Southeastern Integrated Care. The work schedule is 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Collaborate five days per week.
• Document according to Medicaid and SEIC standards.
• Read and write service notes.
• Present information effectively.
• Maintain North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist certification.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the facility ratio and provide wellness self-management, recovery support, coping strategies, advocacy, and independent living skills.
• Assist consumers with self-determination and decision-making, and teach functional skills related to medication, finances, and daily living.
• Model recovery; promote advocacy and rights; and develop or modify crisis plans, advance directives, and relapse-prevention plans.
• Support stable housing, education and job training, community linkages, and case management.
• Instill hope by drawing on personal recovery experience; engage and serve consumers; and promote a recovery culture.
• Report progress on goals to the QP and complete Peer Support Specialist documentation according to NC 8A/8G and LME requirements.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call coverage and coordinate first response.
• Protect confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and CFR-42; maintain records and progress notes; and document billable encounters in the EMR within 24 hours.
• Attend meetings and trainings, collaborate on consumer needs, and perform other duties that support quality services and the organization’s mission.
