Provides mental health support to patients, typically based upon their own experiences. This unique position requires that a Peer Support Specialist Self-identify as a present or former primary consumer of mental health services. The role involves providing direct supportive services to individuals with mental health symptoms, assisting clients in generating proactive solutions to barriers regarding their recovery, and completing documentation in a timely and accurate manner. The specialist will also complete trainings, attend meetings, and participate in care coordination to collaborate with community partners, caregivers, family members, physicians, and other treatment providers regularly. Maintaining effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients, team members, and external stakeholders is crucial. The position operates in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values, and adheres to HIPAA privacy and security regulations.
