About The Position

EMPACT- Suicide Prevention Center, part of the La Frontera family, is seeking a Peer Support Navigator. This role is ideal for individuals with lived experience in receiving behavioral health services who have successfully navigated the system and are ready to assist others. The Peer Support Navigator acts as a liaison to ongoing services by coordinating and monitoring RBHA/Community-based resources, facilitating the delivery of necessary services and support, and helping individuals access services. This is a full-time position that may require some evening hours. A key qualification is that the candidate must identify as a recipient of mental health services in Maricopa County or have assisted family members in their mental health or substance abuse recovery process. Military Veterans, Service Members, or Service Family Members are also encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Minimum of HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have personal experience in behavioral health having received services with Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RBHA) personally.
  • Must have a Fingerprint clearance card or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Must have a valid AZ driver's license with no major infractions in the past three years.
  • Must have regular access to reliable transportation.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of employment.
  • Personal experience in receiving behavioral health services.
  • Successfully navigated through the behavioral health system.
  • Identifies as a recipient of mental health services in Maricopa County or has assisted family members in their mental health or substance abuse recovery process.
  • Might identify as a Military Veteran, Service Member, or Service Family Member.

Nice To Haves

  • Peer Certification in Arizona is preferred.
  • Knowledge/use of SPDAT is a plus.
  • Experience with community behavioral health system.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) Diff per hour available.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a bridge to ongoing services by coordinating and monitoring RBHA/Community-based resources.
  • Facilitate the delivery of necessary services and support.
  • Provide assistance to individuals in accessing services.
  • Demonstrate ability to remain calm in crisis situations.
  • Work independently and cooperatively.
  • Recognize personal limitations.
  • Relate positively and with empathy to all persons regardless of age, race, creed, gender or sexual orientation.
  • Maintain professional conduct consistent with ethical professional practice and the policies and procedures of the agency.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive working relationships with internal and external team members, stakeholders, and community and business partners.
  • If driving while on agency time or on agency business, a valid Arizona driver's license and appropriate liability insurance and approval for liability coverage with EMPACT - SPC’s liability insurance carrier is required.
