About The Position

The Peer Recovery Coach provides support and acts as a resource to clients in the Milestone Extended Care Program, a 6–9 month program for individuals transitioning from recovery to independent living. The coach offers encouragement and engagement throughout treatment, supports clients in carrying out aftercare plans, and participates in peer recovery activities and groups. The role also includes client transportation, general housework, and facility upkeep.

Requirements

• Identify with individuals in long-term recovery.
• Hold a Certified Peer Recovery Coach certification.
• Be willing to work toward becoming a Certified Intentional Peer Support.
• Have a valid Maine driver's license.
• Have a reliable vehicle and be able to transport clients to appointments when needed.
• Provide proof of vehicle registration, auto insurance, and current inspection.
• Be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Have freedom of movement on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and encouragement to clients throughout treatment, engaging with them in the milieu through games, conversation, and other activities.
• Participate in designated groups as staff, practicing empathy and modeling for clients.
• Foster connections with clients and support them in implementing aftercare plans developed with clinical staff.
• Provide transportation when clients transition to aftercare outside the Milestone campus.
• Attend AA/NA peer recovery meetings with clients and support those who are anxious or ambivalent about participation.
• Transport clients to appointments when MaineCare transportation is unavailable.
• Participate in Motivational Interviewing training, including Basics, Advanced, and Masters classes, to develop skills aligned with program values and support client engagement in peer recovery work.
• Assist with general housework and facility upkeep.
