About The Position

Santé is seeking a Part-Time Peer Program Assistant for its new Baltimore County Dundalk site. This role involves being a supportive presence for members, assisting with daily center operations, and encouraging member participation in groups and activities. The Peer Program Assistant will also engage with members in peer-to-peer support, assist with linkages to services, and facilitate socialization and activities.

Requirements

  • Must become WRAP certified and NAMI Connection Support Group Facilitator certified within six (6) months of employment.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) OR one to three months related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Peer Recovery Specialist Certification (CPRS) OR willingness to be certified within one (1) year of employment (Santé will pay for certification if not held at time of hire).
  • At least two (2) years in full recovery AND three (3) years of lived experience with mental illness, substance abuse, or a co-occurring disorder.
  • Must have access to a vehicle for business purposes, including transporting consumers.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must possess proof of current automobile insurance.
  • May not have more than two (2) points on their driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Encouraging member participation in groups.
  • Engaging with members through socialization, initiating activities or discussions, and starting games.
  • Assisting members in peer-to-peer support discussions (in person or on telephone) with personal issues or in groups.
  • Assisting with linkages to services and activities and people.
  • Performing orientation for new members.
  • Opening, closing, and facilitating the daily operations of the center, including cleaning, setting up snacks and drinks, creating daily sign-in sheets, recycling, and organizing materials.
  • Assisting with monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
  • Entering new member data and attendance records.
  • Creating correspondences, including requests for donations.
  • Keeping track of and replenishing program supplies.
  • Operating a 4-line telephone system, including the "warm line," answering incoming calls according to departmental protocols.
  • Monitoring member usage of the telephone system.
  • Retrieving messages from voice mail, returning calls, logging them, and forwarding them to the Director.
  • Welcoming on-site visitors and members and directing them to the appropriate personnel or department.
  • Providing potential members with appropriate information packets.
  • Tracking visitor data, including new membership applications.
  • Tracking monthly, quarterly, and annual data of new visitors, visitor to member ratio, non-duplicated counts of individuals served, and other required data.
  • Performing other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, and collating.
  • Creating flyers for events using MS Word and other applicable programs.
  • Facilitating support group membership meetings and activities.
  • Coordinating with the Director in scheduling activities and developing new groups.
  • Driving other members to nearby events.
  • Checking work email according to agency protocol.
  • Participating in and completing all required trainings.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
