About The Position

Coastal Horizons Center, Inc. is seeking a qualified Peer Support Specialist (PSS) in New Hanover County. The PSS promotes consumer engagement in therapy with clinicians, involvement and engagement with wellness services and recovery support, and engagement with primary care. The role involves conducting rapid screening for communicable disease, completing all tracking and reporting requirements for outcomes and evaluation, and documenting services provided. The PSS also assists clients by sharing personal recovery stories and aiding in resource acquisition. This position works directly with the Opioid Treatment Programming staff and CHC Treatment providers to ensure continuity of care and engages in a team approach with treatment providers and support services.

Requirements

Diploma/Equivalent or higher.
Knowledge of wellness and recovery-based concepts.
Lived experiences with mental health and/or substance use disorders.
At least 18 months of recovery.
Must have completed or be willing to complete the Peer Support Specialist Certification Program.

Responsibilities
