This position is responsible for working with families, which includes caregivers, parents, and natural supports, to help represent their best interests. The Peer Partner Counselor participates in various treatment team meetings and actively participates in the development of care plans. The Peer Partner Counselor demonstrates the ability to conduct a strengths interview with family members; tell own story to engage families; build on family strengths; communicate clearly; complete documentation and assist other team members in coordinating services. TEAMMATES offers Wraparound, Intensive Field Capable Clinical Services (IFCCS) and IFCCS Outreach Triage Team and Child Outreach Triage Team services that cover a full range of treatment and support. 24 hours of referral receipt, and services are delivered countywide by the same team 24-hour Crisis Intervention SED Children and Adolescent driven program. Client and Family driven program with mutually agreed by service provider and family. Contract with DMH and Child Protected Services and Probation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED, HiSET, etc.) required
  • Personal experience as a consumer in mental health, child welfare, juvenile justice and/or past substance Abuse Recovery experience
  • Spanish Speaking Required
  • Valid California Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a mental health, health care, or other social services agency/organization serving people with disabilities a plus
  • Peer Support Specialist Certification: Successful completion of the certification process within one year of employment is preferred.
