About The Position

People Encouraging People offers quality mobile behavioral health services to people with serious and persistent mental health and substance abuse disorders. We continuously strive to provide these services with integrity, honesty and respect. In order to continue our mission of quality care, we are seeking a Peer Counselor to join our Assertive Community Treatment Team. The successful candidate will have had personal life experiences with mental illness, substance abuse, or homelessness. The Peer Counselor will provide expertise that professional training cannot replicate.

Requirements

• A valid drivers license, clean driving record and means of reliable transportation.
• A lived experience with mental illness, substance abuse, or homelessness
• Must have a Peer Support Certification or be willing to obtain one in an agree upon timeframe if hired.

Responsibilities

• Provide outreach services to clients in the community and coordinate health services between the Agency, community and home settings.
• Participate as a full member of the team to carry out support services.
• Provide substance abuse services and education.
• Provide support to families and other identified supports.
• Provide crisis intervention under the supervision of the Program Manager.
• Provide highly individualized services in the community and promote self-determination and decision making.
