About The Position

Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a Full-time Certified Peer Counselor (CPC) for its Behavioral Health Program in Vancouver, WA. The CPC will provide behavioral health crisis intervention services to individuals referred to the Adult Mobile Crisis Intervention (AMCI) team. Working alongside a Mental Health Professional (MHP) or Crisis Intervention Specialist (CIS), the CPC will conduct outreach, provide referrals, and offer follow-up supportive services. This role involves collaboration with natural supports, community partners, and other service providers. The position requires adherence to instructions and performance of duties as assigned by the supervisor. Sea Mar is a mandatory COVID-19 and flu vaccine organization.

Requirements

Must be a consumer of service within Washington State’s mental health system.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
One year paid or volunteer experience working with Mental Health.
Graduation from the Washington Institute Peer Advocacy Training Program or equivalent program (Rainbow Center Peer Advocacy Training Program or similar) required.
Must be a Certified Peer Counselor/CPSS in the State of Washington.
Must have and maintain a current TB test & CPR certification. If CPR certificate is not active at time of hire, must obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Provides case management services to assigned consumers, including assistance in obtaining and maintaining housing, income, employment, medical and mental health treatment, and social/recreational activities.
Assists the recovering person in identifying personal interests and goals for recovery and community integration.
Educates clinical staff and others about the recovery process and the impact of stigma.
Assists recovering persons in recognizing and utilizing their abilities, strengths, and assets to achieve their goals.
Demonstrates understanding of community resources (vocational, social, cultural, spiritual, funding) and assists consumers in accessing them.
Ensures appropriate documentation of all activities.
Assists with case management for clients from Substance Abuse and Mental Health programs, including record acquisition and maintenance.
Participates in clinical consults with Program Manager or assigned Therapist and seeks additional consultations as needed.
Attends and participates in meetings as directed.
Helps foster an environment of good mental health and teamwork.
Provides on-site services to acute-care consumers, including groups, one-on-one support, and coordination with other clinic services and staff.
Performs other duties or special projects as assigned by the Administrator.
Collaborates with the primary Clinician to facilitate client access to community resources, natural supports, and entitlements.
Assists the Primary Clinician in developing outcome-based treatment plans, crisis plans, and discharge plans.
Provides needed treatment services to assigned clients.
Assists clients in managing their authorized treatment benefits.
Documents services in a timely and compliant manner.
Maximizes service outcomes as directed by the consumer and contract.
Provides support and back-up to other team members and their clients.
Keeps supervisor informed of potential problems.
Maintains quality professional standards.
Follows Sea Mar safety procedures.
Follows Sea Mar building security procedures.
Presents a professional image to consumers, the public, and staff.
Maintains strict confidentiality.
Handles all consumer information and activities confidentially.
Participates in staff and program meetings, including consultation, supervision, and professional training.
