About The Position

Peer Mentor is a position at Cohannet Academy, located within Taunton State Hospital. Cohannet Academy is a Joint Commission-Accredited Intensive Residential Treatment Program (IRTP) that specializes in trauma-informed care. It is contracted with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (MA DMH) to offer in-house services and treatment specifically for adolescent biological females ages 13 to 18. In this position, you will be able to convey your passion for helping others with a dynamic team by bringing an energetic and positive approach while working with youth that we serve.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years or older.
• High School Diploma required.
• Must have personal experience living with and recovering from mental health needs, substance use, and/or traumatic life concerns which caused challenges in one or more areas of life.
• Must have experience as a Peer Mentor, or have successfully completed an advanced peer to peer training program (such as Certified Peer Specialist training).
• Background and driving record checks will be performed.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelors degree in a human services field are preferred.
