People USA is seeking a Peer Generalist to support the Peer Navigation program in Dutchess/Ulster County. This program offers site-based and community-based interventions for individuals who have experienced acute distress, frequent emergency room visits, and hospitalizations, and for whom traditional programs have been ineffective. The program utilizes a peer-led, person-first, trauma-informed approach to address immediate needs, build trust, and strengthen social networks for long-term recovery. The Peer Generalist will practice relationship-centered, participant-driven services, act as a resource and advocate, coordinate services, maintain compliance, and foster a collaborative team environment. This role requires self-direction, decision-making, crisis de-escalation skills, and the use of personal lived experience to promote self-advocacy and systemic navigation. The Peer Generalist must be committed to peer values and flexible care coordination.
