About The Position

Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join their Pediatric Trauma Surgery team. Levine Children's Hospital is the only designated level 1 pediatric trauma center in the Charlotte region and the largest children's hospital between Atlanta and Washington, DC. This is a shift-based position that includes rotating weekends and holidays. The successful candidate will perform thorough history and physical assessments, evaluate, assess, implement plans, and monitor other co-morbid medical conditions secondary to critical illness and injury. They will work closely with trauma surgeons and critical care teams to manage complex clinical cases. Responsibilities include performing surgical procedures such as chest tube placement, central and arterial line insertion, laceration repairs, and I&D. The APP will manage admitted pediatric trauma patients, attend pediatric trauma codes in the Peds ED, admit patients to the floor or ICU, perform procedures, and assist in the OR. Teaching opportunities with residents and/or APP Fellows are also available.

Requirements

  • Must have or be eligible for a DEA license.
  • Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works.
  • Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.
  • Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking, interpersonal skills, and the ability to prioritize and make proactive decisions.
  • Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner: Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required.
  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Certification in the area of practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required.
  • Pediatric Acute Care board certification required based upon population and acuity served.
  • 1 Year experience as a PNP-AC required
  • Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required, master's degree preferred.
  • 1 Year experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Current PALS and ATLS preferred.
  • Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Admit to the floor or ICU as clinically indicated.
  • Perform procedures and assist in the OR.
  • Teaching opportunities with residents and/or APP Fellows.
