About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Trauma Surgery NP/PA at a Level II trauma center. The role involves inpatient and OR coverage for trauma and emergency general surgery. Responsibilities include daily rounding, first assisting in OR cases (including robotics), handling consults, trauma activations, and critical care management. Required procedures include I&Ds, laceration repairs, chest tube placement, and central line placement. The position requires working closely with Trauma/Acute Care surgeons, managing an average census of 20 patients, with an average of 3 cases per day and 1 per night. The patient population is 95% adult and 5% pediatric. The role utilizes the EPIC EMR system. Credentialing takes approximately 90 days.

Requirements

  • Active Pennsylvania licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS certifications
  • Minimum 2-years Trauma Surgery experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) OR Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) OR National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Active and unencumbered physician assistant (PA) license
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty
