About The Position

Pediatrix Neonatology of Houston, an affiliate of Pediatrix Medical Group, is seeking an Pediatric Hospitalist to join our growing practice at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake Hospital. The hospitalists cover the pediatric inpatient floor and oversee PNPs who round in the newborn nursery. Each physician works 15-16 shifts/month. There is no in-house call. The role involves working in a new pediatric unit with an 8-bed capacity that accepts direct admissions from community Pediatricians. The unit is staffed in-house from 8a-5p, with over-night home call for the Pediatric Unit and Nursery for two weeks per month. The hospital has access to Pediatric Subspecialists including Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Infectious Disease, General Surgery, and Neurosurgery, as well as a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Room. The newborn nursery is open, averaging 4000 deliveries/year with an average daily census of 20 newborns. The nursery is covered daily by 2 PNPs, and there is no delivery attendance or circumcisions required. A Level 3 NICU is in-house. HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake is a 532-bed full-service acute care hospital with a Level II Trauma Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and a dedicated pediatric emergency center. It is the only exclusive heart hospital south of the Texas Medical Center.

Responsibilities

Cover pediatric inpatient floor.
