Physician, Hospitalist - Pediatrics - per diem (Sacramento, CA)
About The Position
Sutter Medical Group seeks a per diem board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Hospitalist to join its pediatric hospital medicine program in Sacramento, California. The physician will care for a diverse, medically complex pediatric population in a fast-paced, high-acuity tertiary care children’s center, contributing to medical education, quality improvement, and program development. The collaborative environment emphasizes interdisciplinary teamwork, academic engagement, and innovation in pediatric inpatient care. The clinical setting includes a 40-bed general pediatric unit, a 20-bed CVICU/PICU, Northern California’s largest NICU, a newborn nursery, and a Pediatric Emergency Department. Physicians work with pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists and multidisciplinary services, including social work, integrative medicine, and pediatric pharmacy. The program operates three acute care teams daily and two Well-Baby Nursery teams, has in-house nocturnist coverage and regional teleconsultation support, and includes teaching residents and medical students. Day and night shifts are needed. EPIC is among the advanced practice technologies available.
Requirements
- Board-certified or board-eligible in General Pediatrics and/or Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
- Strong inpatient experience.
- Commitment to caring for medically complex children.
- Enthusiasm for teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient care for a diverse and medically complex pediatric population in a tertiary care children’s center.
- Participate in medical education with residents and medical students.
- Contribute to quality improvement, innovation, and program development initiatives.
- Collaborate with pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Participate in acute care and Well-Baby Nursery services as part of the program structure.
- Provide regional teleconsultation support for regional hospitals.
