About The Position

Alaska Neonatology Associates, part of Pediatrix Medical Group, is seeking a pediatric hospitalist to join its teams at Alaska Regional Hospital and Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. The position is part of a team of more than six pediatric hospitalists that shares a group practice with neonatologists, providing hospital-based neonatal and pediatric services in southcentral Alaska. Shifts are 24 hours, with call from home and a required 20-minute response time. The role provides simultaneous coverage at two hospitals. At Providence Alaska Medical Center, the hospitalist covers a Level I newborn nursery with a daily census of 2–12 (average 4), without a delivery-attendance requirement. At Alaska Regional Hospital, duties include emergency department consultations as needed; care for an inpatient pediatric unit with an average daily census below one; attendance at high-risk deliveries; coverage of a Level II NICU with fewer than 100 annual admissions; and care for approximately 300 well newborn nursery patients annually. The hospital has approximately 500 deliveries per year, about 35% of which require in-person attendance. The role also includes participation in program development and quality-improvement activities, as well as didactic teaching and precepting opportunities for third-year medical students. The electronic medical record at both sites is Epic. Circumcision skills, or willingness to learn and perform circumcisions, are strongly desired. Pediatrix describes its clinician compensation as competitive; some locations offer sign-on bonuses and relocation. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability coverage; healthcare and dependent-care FSAs and HSAs; a 401(k); and an employee stock purchase program. Some benefits are provided at no cost, while others involve employee cost sharing; voluntary plans are also available through payroll deductions.
